Christina Lindberg (Thriller – A Cruel Picture) stars as Anita, a troubled teenager struggling with compulsive behavior that disrupts her relationships and sense of self. As she drifts through a series of encounters, she crosses paths with a young psychology student (Stellan Skarsgård, early in his career) who attempts to understand and help her condition.

Directed by Torgny Wickman, Anita reflects the wave of early 1970s Scandinavian films that blended social commentary with exploitation-era storytelling. The film approaches its controversial subject matter through a mix of melodrama and provocative realism, and was later cited as an influence on subsequent European works exploring similar psychological themes.

This edition has been digitally restored by the Swedish Film Institute and presents the original version alongside alternate international edits and extensive archival supplements.
