RIPS YOUR NERVES TO SHREDS!
A sunken Spanish galleon, a deadly dive expedition, and a fortune in treasure set the stage for high-stakes peril in Evil in the Deep, a suspense-packed aquatic adventure filmed entirely on location in the shark-infested Caribbean. Originally released as Treasure of the Jamaica Reef in 1974, the film was re-edited and re-released in 1976 with added shark footage to capitalize on the explosive success of Jaws, adopting a darker tone and a new title that emphasized the menace lurking beneath the surface.
This thrilling undersea saga stars Cheryl Ladd (Charlie's Angels), Roosevelt "Rosey" Grier (The Thing with Two Heads), Chuck Woolery (Love Connection), David Ladd (The Serpent and the Rainbow), and Stephen Boyd, the Academy Award-winning actor from Ben-Hur. Directed by Virginia Stone--half of the filmmaking duo once dubbed "Hollywood's only man-and-wife moviemakers"--the film has been beautifully restored from one of the only surviving 16mm scope prints and scanned in 2K for this Blu-ray debut.
Bonus features include a newly unearthed R-rated extra scenes reel, an extended 2020 interview with camera operator Steve Haskett, and a digital reproduction of the original press book. For fans of vintage underwater thrillers and '70s drive-in cinema, Evil in the Deep resurfaces with a vengeance.
