Jazz saxophonist Fred Madison finds his marriage falling apart. After attending a party, he is suddenly accused of murdering his wife, Renee, and is sentenced to death. While awaiting execution, Fred begins suffering from intense headaches and disturbing visions involving the mysterious “Mystery Man.” In a surreal turn of events, he seemingly becomes a different person — a young auto mechanic named Pete Dayton. When prison guards discover the confused and innocent Pete inside Fred’s cell, they are forced to release him. Yet Pete soon finds himself drawn into a dark web of crime, desire, and manipulation, where identities blur and everyone appears trapped in an inescapable cycle along the Lost Highway.
