Nekromantik (1987), directed by Jörg Buttgereit, is a cult classic of European underground horror that was censored for many years because of its extreme content. The story follows Robert, a police cleanup worker, and his partner Betty, who are bound together by a disturbing relationship and a growing obsession with death. When Robert brings home a corpse taken from his workplace, the couple’s fragile balance collapses, dragging them into a spiral of alienation and self-destruction.

Shot on Super 8, the film is a radical exploration of the connection between eroticism and death, establishing itself as one of the most transgressive horror films of the 1980s. It is finally available in its first complete Italian release, fully restored in HD and presented by Rustblade.
