You know who to call when you have ghosts. But who do you call when you have monsters?
The 1980s produced countless films about precocious kids encountering aliens, stopping criminals or hunting for buried treasure. When Lethal Weapon writer Shane Black and Night of the Creeps director Fred Dekker created their own version, they took the formula in a darker and more monstrous direction.
One hundred years ago, Dr. Abraham Van Helsing and a small band of freedom fighters stormed Count Dracula’s castle with a plan to rid the world of evil forever. They failed.
Now Dracula has returned, accompanied by the Wolf Man, the Mummy, the Gill-Man and Frankenstein’s creature. A group of horror-obsessed kids soon discovers that the comics, books and monster movies dismissed by their parents and teachers were never merely escapism. They were training.
