Description

Atmospheric 1950s cult Gothic horror comes to UK Blu-ray for the first time.

Eureka Entertainment presents The Screaming Skull, an eerie blend of Gothic horror and psychological suspense from actor-director Alex Nicol.

Making its UK Blu-ray debut on October 19, 2026, as part of the Eureka Classics range, this cult favorite is strictly limited to 2,000 copies and comes housed in an O-card slipcase with an exclusive collector’s booklet.

Adapted from a short horror story by Francis Marion Crawford, The Screaming Skull marked the directorial debut of Alex Nicol, best known for his acting roles in films and television series such as The Man from Laramie and The Twilight Zone.

A hidden gem from the archives of American International Pictures, the film combines Gothic atmosphere with psychological suspense, playing like a meeting between Daphne du Maurier and William Castle.

Following her marriage to Eric Whitlock, the wealthy Jenni moves into her husband’s secluded country mansion, which he inherited after the death of his first wife, Marion.

Jenni soon becomes disturbed by the circumstances surrounding Marion’s death. She was supposedly killed after striking her head on the edge of a decorative pond and drowning.

Mickey, the estate’s groundskeeper, believes Marion’s ghost still roams the property. Before long, Jenni begins experiencing terrifying events she cannot explain and fears that she may be under attack from a supernatural presence.

Influenced by Gothic melodramas such as Rebecca and Gaslight, and anticipating the sinister haunted-house atmosphere of House on Haunted Hill, The Innocents, and The Haunting, The Screaming Skull is filled with unsettling imagery and memorable horror set pieces.
