Set within the eerie world of a Parisian “Grand Guignol” theatre troupe, the story follows Madeline, a troubled actress plagued by terrifying visions of an axe-wielding killer. When members of the troupe begin turning up brutally murdered, paranoia and fear consume the company as Madeline becomes convinced the nightmare is only beginning.
Painstakingly restored in 4K by Hammer Film Productions from the original film negatives, this release includes both Hessler’s original director’s cut and AIP’s re-edited theatrical version.
