Young Bastian (Barret Oliver) is constantly bullied at school. While trying to escape his tormentors, he hides in an antiquarian bookstore, where he discovers a mysterious book titled The NeverEnding Story. Drawn in, he begins to read—only to find himself pulled into the adventure.

Transported to the world of Fantastica, Bastian enters a magical realm inhabited by strange and wondrous creatures—tiny beings, racing snails, rock-eaters, and luckdragons—all facing destruction. As the kingdom teeters on the brink, Bastian realizes he may hold the key to its survival, and that his role in the story is far greater than he ever imagined.
